Update: Starting on 26 April 2022, most venues no longer require check-ins. Only larger events with more than 500 participants at any one time, and certain nightlife establishments, require the public to check in with their TraceTogether App or Token for VDS checks. Venues that want to use the SafeEntry Gateway feature for VDS checks should set up the SafeEntry (Business) App. For more details, see this press release.
No, you should only deploy SEGWs at the main entrances of your venue. Sub-unit level shops should not deploy SEGWs if they are not amongst the list of venues required to implement SEGW for check-ins. A retail shop in a hotel need not deploy SEGW but a restaurant in a hotel would need to deploy SEGW.
Small retail stores (<10,000 sqft or 930sqm), such as pharmacies, convenience stores that are not required to implement SE check-in, but have voluntarily done so, should remove their SE check-ins to increase convenience for their patrons.
Workplaces that wish to implement SEGW may download/update the SafeEntry (Business) app and use the SEGW function. If they wish to apply for the hardware SEGW device, please look out for further announcements on go.gov.sg/gateway-overview.
