The SEGW provides users with a convenient mode of check-in/out at SE checkpoints. It collects the necessary check-in/out data (e.g. check-in venue, time, identifiers) and uploaded to Government server. This data is derived from the Bluetooth interaction between the TT App / Token and the SEGW. The encrypted data collected by SEGW is used in the same way as other SE check-in data collected via other means, such as through NRIC barcode scanning and using the phone to scan SE QR codes. Personal data collected via SafeEntry can only be used to carry out or facilitate contact tracing, except when there is a need to use the data for criminal investigations and proceedings into seven categories of serious crimes.
